I think it most certainly can be, just a very risky career choice. I would certainly not suggest it. Its better off to have some kind of job where you are guaranteed to come away with a pay check. I like to do it as a part time job ;)

For only a dedicated few. But its not like there would be a company placing ads for " Poker Players needed " anytime or in the future.
But then I could be wrong, because Casinos may hired people to play in their own casinos just to make it seem popular.

the crowd attract crowd effect.

Poker can be a career, I have seen people do it before. Some people actually make a great living doing it. I think it is a waste of a career, but it does cover the costs of living, and more.

Definitely.

There are already a lot of professional poker players that are making their living from it.
I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone unless you are winning on a very steady and regular basis long term before giving up any job that brings a solid pay cheque every month.

To be a pro poker player you also have to start out with a nice bankroll and be prepared to lose money as well as win it.

If poker is going to be your only income you also have to learn to manage your funds responsibly, no point in going out and spending all your winning over a month then not having enough left over to cover a bad run.

Wonder who selected what's poker at a poker forum ;)

I could never go pro, I don't understand how the pros do it. I mean, they're life depends on a game, and they have to keep up a steady winning streak. It would just be too much pressure for me (not to mention I don't have the skill).

4 of the 7 regular players in my Friday night game are now playing for a living online. I would if my wife would let me :)
