Just as the title says, what exactly is a fish in poker?

Is it the name for a new player?

A fish is a player that loses a lot of money, not specifically a new player but more often than not it is.

Fish - A creature usualy with two frontal fins and one rear fin and moves by wiggling these fins in water to push it forward :) LOL

Maybe in poker a fish is termed on a losing player because he has taken the hook.

I would consider a fish to be a Loose Passive Passive player. Extremely easy to take money from. The players you want to watch out for are the exact opposite the Tight Agressive Agressive.

Ha ha. One time in a game people kept saying in that chat "okay it's the fish's turn don't worry". I couldn't really tell if it was a bad thing or a good thing, I didn't ask. By the way, they were not talking about me.
