Hello people

Can anyone enlighten me on the mystery of sidepots?

I don't really understand how they work out..

Side pots can occur when there are 3 or more players and at least one of the players is all in. While the other 2 players start a side pot because they still have money to bet. Does that help?

think of it this way...you can only lose what's infront of you..and you can only win multiples of what's infront of you.

You have $20
Phil has $100
Jed as $100

You go allin preflop ($20) Phil and Jed call...you have no more $$, so this $60 is set aside as a side pot...that is the most you can win...but now Jed and Phil continue playing with their $80 stacks into a new pot. However, if Jed or Phil's hand beats yours, they take the main and the side.

Interesting! I never knew how side pots worked before, that also helped me out. I wonder how come I haven't asked that before, I've always wondered.
